Jonty Rhodes, who has been with the Lucknow franchise since the start of the 2023 Indian Premier League, displayed great man-management skills as he ran almost halfway around the ground from the dugout to encourage Thakur after he spilt a catch of Daryl Mitchell. The incident occurred in the second over of the innings when Mitchell slashed a delivery by Mohsin Khan towards short third, where Yash Thakur could not hold on to the catch, and Lucknow let a chance slip away.

After the end of the over, Rhodes, who was in the dugout, ran across towards Thakur before giving him a few motivational words and two thumbs up, seemingly asking him to keep his spirits up. He also gave him a big pat and a clap before running away again.

Thakur did not have the greatest day with the ball either, conceding 47 runs in his four overs.

This is not the first time that Rhodes has won the hearts of the fans in Lucknow. Last year, he turned from coach to groundsman, assisting the staff in bringing on the cover during a downpour in a rain-affected clash.
