Watch: Kuldeep Yadav picked up 3-20 on his IPL comeback, which included a brilliant delivery to dismiss Nicholas Pooran for a first-ball duck that also damaged the stumps against Lucknow Super Giants today (April 12).

Kuldeep, who missed Delhi Capitals’ last three games due to a groin injury, staged a remarkable comeback, putting LSG on the backfoot with three wickets in the space of six deliveries. Introduced into the attack in the eighth over of the innings, Kuldeep got his first wicket three balls into his spell, dismissing Marcus Stoinis with a tossed-up delivery.

The in-form Pooran was up next. Pooran scored 64*, 42, 42* and 32* in his first four games of this year’s IPL at a strike rate of 169.50 but could not withstand Kuldeep’s googly, falling first ball to the left-hander. Kuldeep tossed up the ball and Pooran looked to defend it on the front foot. However, it rolled through Pooran’s defence and crashed onto the bottom of the off-stump, damaging the timber behind as well in the process.

Kuldeep was on a hat-trick but could not achieve the feat after new batter Deepak Hooda saw off the fuller ball next up.

The spinner also picked up the wicket of KL Rahul in the next over and ended without conceding a boundary in his spell. LSG, reduced to 94-7 at one point, recovered to post 167-7 on the board courtesy of a 35-ball 55* from Ayush Badoni.
