Watch: 18-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi, batting for the first time in IPL, smashed Rasikh Salam for a reverse-scooped six over third man in an extraordinary display of batting during the DC vs KKR game in Vizag today (April 3).

Raghuvanshi made his debut in the last game for KKR against RCB, but did not get to bat. Today, he was sent in at No.3 at the fall of Phil Salt’s wicket in the fifth over with the score reading 60-1, courtesy Sunil Narine‘s assault.

The 18-year-old Mumbai top-order batter was the highest run-scorer for India at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup and took no time to make his presence felt. The first ball he faced was an attempted bouncer by Anrich Nortje. Displaying no signs of nerves, he pulled it with authority for four and followed it up with a backfoot punch through the off side for another boundary.

Having already grabbed eyeballs with his strokeplay, Raghuvanshi displayed his range as his innings progressed. On the fourth ball of the 11th over, bowled by Salam, he switched his grip and swatted a length ball outside off over the third-man fence for a six, his second of the night.

Two balls later, he hit another six, this time towards mid-wicket. He eventually reached a 25-ball fifty in the 13th over before being dismissed by Nortje in the 14th as he attempted to upper cut a short ball over third man.
