Kolkata Knight Riders have qualified for the playoffs, and are a point away from playing a top two spot that will help them play in Qualifier 1. Tonight’s XI will depend on whether they secure that first or rest some key players and give the reserve bench a chance.
One cricketer they need to try out is Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who is certain to play as a like-for-like replacement once Salt leaves for England duties. Going by reports, Russell may leave before the final stages of the season as well to play for the West Indies, leaving KKR with more concerns. Narine and Starc, however, are likely to stay put.
Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, need to win everything – and hope for other matches to go their way as well. Wriddhiman Saha’s injury has forced them to pick Wade and open with Sai Sudharsan. While the latter has worked, the former has forced them to leave out an overseas fast bowler they would have wanted to pick otherwise.
