SRH vs RR: IPL 2024 team news

With 10 points from nine games, Sunrisers Hyderabad are fifth on the points table. However, they are level on points with fourth-placed Chennai Super Kings and have a game in hand. In fact, a win by a reasonable margin will help them leapfrog the Lucknow Super Giants and secure the third place.

The Sunrisers have smashed many a record in this IPL – but all that has been while batting first. While chasing in excess of 200 – not a big total in this season – they lost too many wickets too early, first against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, then against Chennai. They will want to plan their chase again.

In Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, and Abdul Samad, they have an explosive batting unit – while also accounting for the keeper and multiple part-time bowlers, enabling them to choose a deep batting line-up. The SRH seam attack, led by Pat Cummins but dominated by Indians, is extremely potent even on flat surfaces.

Rajasthan Royals top the table with a four-point margin. While they have lost only one of their nine matches, it is also true that they will not be playing in their fortress in Jaipur again: three of their last five matches are away fixtures, while the other two are in their adopted home in Guwahati.

RR’s outstanding bowling attack – they have conceded 200 only once – has been instrumental to their success. Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma have been excellent at the death, backing up Trent Boult’s early strikes, while Yuzvendra Chahal has, as always, been in the hunt for the Purple Cap. R Ashwin has not been among the wickets, but he has impressed in the middle overs.

Both sides are more or less aware of their starting players.
