Dube, who walked into bat after the fall of Ravindra Jadeja’s wicket in the 12th over of the innings, raced away to 19 in his first 10 deliveries, taking on the attack after a quiet period for Chennai. CSK made 53 runs in their 41 deliveries before Dube joined skipper Rururaj Gaikwad, starting with a six against Marcus Stoinis.
He reached his fifty in 22 deliveries with the help of six maximums, three of which came in successive balls in the 16th over of the innings. On strike against Thakur, Dube flicked the second ball, fuller on his pads, over deep mid-wicket for a six. Next up, Thakur bowled a slower delivery, which was pulled away by the batter for another six. The same result followed on the very next ball as well: The fuller delivery was lofted by Dube over long-on as he completed a hat-trick of maximums.
Shivam Dube was excellent yet again, making 66 in only 27 balls (three fours, seven sixes) at a strike rate of 244.44.
