Curran has enjoyed a sensational debut year in international cricket, starring as Player of the Series during England’s 4-1 Test series win over India during the home summer, while also impressing in the 3-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka. This is his first time entering the IPL auction.
Woakes, who has cemented himself as the spearhead of England’s ODI bowling attack, does have previous experience in the tournament, having featuring for Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2017 and 2018 respectively. His IPL career record is impressive, with 25 wickets from his 18 matches coming at an average of 23.04.
A number of England players have put themselves forward for the auction, including Mark Wood, Alex Hales, Jonny Bairstow and Chris Jordan. Another name to lookout for will be Worcestershire’s 20-year old seamer Pat Brown. Brown, with his array of variations, was a revelation in this year’s Vitality Blast, finishing the tournament as its leading wicket-taker.
