Watch: Abhishek Sharma hit 14 sixes and four fours in 26 balls en route to a rollicking hundred in a local game in Gurugram.

Abhishek Sharma finished the 2024 IPL with 42 sixes, the most among all batters. With a 350-run cut-off, his strike rate of 204 was also the highest of the season.

Ten days after featuring in the IPL final, for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Kolkata Knight Riders, Abhishek turned up for Punters 11 against Mario Cricket Club in an Eventeneurs Friendship Series match in Gurugram.

Mario amassed 249-7 in 20 overs after Punters captain Samir won the toss and opted to field. Opener Kunal Singh smashed 60 in 21 balls, while Nadeem Khan made 74 not out in 32 balls from No.5. Abhishek conceded 13 in his lone wicketless over.

In response, Punters were 26-2 in four overs when Abhishek walked out. He lost Shivam Gupta at the other end but put on a display of exhilarating strokes to hit 14 sixes (more than one every alternate ball) and four fours from 26 balls to bring up a 25-ball hundred.

By the time Nadeem (2-41) dismissed him, he had made 103 in 26 balls. The other Punters batters – extras included – made only 12 during this phase, from eight balls.

With Laksh T (44 not out in 29 balls) and Puneet Mehra (52 in 21) chipping in as well, Punters completed the chase with four wickets and 11 balls in hand.
