Earlier this month, Zimbabwe hosted Ireland for three T20Is. They won the first match – the first day-night match in the country – off the last ball, but Ireland bounced back to clinch the series 2-1.
The two teams will now clash for three ODIs, on December 13, 15, and 17, at the Harare Sports Club.
The two teams have met 19 times and have beaten each other eight times, while two matches did not yield a result. The first encounter between the two sides, back in the 2007 World Cup, famously ended in a tie.
Zimbabwe hold a 6-3 lead on home soil. Earlier this year, they had drawn a home series 1-1.
Neither side had qualified for the World Cup in 2019 or 2023. However, the ICC has re-expanded the World Cup to 14 teams in 2027, and both sides stand with a chance to qualify based on ODI rankings.
