James Foster, who has previously served as England’s wicketkeeping coach, has been appointed as the head coach of Cape Town Samp Army in Zim Afro T10 2024

The second edition of the Zim Afro T10 tournament is set to be played between September 21 and 29 – here’s the list of coaches for the six teams competing in the tournament.

 

How many sides will play in Zim Afro T10 2024?

The inaugural edition of the 10-overs-a-side league was played with five teams last year at the Harare Sports Club from July 21 to 29. The Durban Qalandars became champions by beating Joburg Buffaloes in the final.

New Zealand’s Tim Seifert was the Player of the Tournament. This year, the tournament has been expanded to six teams, with New York Strikers Lagos as the latest addition.

List of coaches for each team at the Zim Afro T10 season 2

Chaminda Vaas (New York Strikers Lagos)

The former Sri Lanka pacer has been roped in as the head coach of the new franchise, which has replaced defending champions Durban Qalandars. Vaas has previous international coaching experience with New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Ireland.

Moin Khan (Durban Wolves)

Moin, part of Pakistan's title-winning 1992 World Cup campaign, has been appointed as the head coach of the Durban Wolves. The former wicketkeeper-batter coached Pakistan between 2014 and 2016 and is part of Pakistan Super League franchise Quetta Gladiators' think tank.

James Foster (Cape Town Samp Army)

Cape Town Samp Army will get the services of James Foster, who has previously worked as an assistant coach with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL between 2020 and 2022 as well as England. Apart from this, he has also served teams like Peshawar Zalmi, Khulna Tigers and Glamorgan.

Owais Shah (Bulawayo Braves Jaguars)

Bulawayo Braves Jaguars have handed over the position of head coach to former-England player Owais Shah, who currently works in the same position for Dambulla Vikings in the Lanka Premier League.

Julian Wood (Jo'Burg Bangla Tigers)

Wood, another former English player, has linked up with last year's runners-up Jo'Burg Bangla Tigers as their new head coach. His past experiences include working as a batting coach for IPL side Punjab Kings and as head coach for Hampshire in county cricket.

Pubudu Dassanayake (Harare Bolts)

Renamed Harare Bolts from Harare Hurricanes last season, the franchise has made Sri Lanka's Pubudu Dassanayake the new head coach. His previous stints include working with Nepal, USA and Canada.
