The ICC announced the schedule for the Women’s Cricket World Cup, to be held from March 4 2022 on Wednesday — here’s the schedule, fixtures list, venues and start times for India Women’s games during the WC 2022.
The tournament, from March 4 to April 3 in New Zealand next year, will see eight teams in action. Every side will play each other once, after which the top four countries will advance to the semi-finals. A total of 31 ODIs will be played during the Women’s WC 2022, with the games being held in six venues — Mount Maunganui, Dunedin, Hamilton, Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch.
The tournament will begin with hosts New Zealand Women taking the stage at the Bay Oval against West Indies Women.
India Women begin their campaign on March 6, when they take on arch-rivals Pakistan Women at the Bay Oval. It will be the first time since the 2017 Women’s World Cup clash that the two sides will play an ODI game. They will then travel to Seddon Park, where they will play their next two matches, against the hosts New Zealand Women and West Indies Women. The Women in Blue will play the last league game on 27 March, against South Africa Women. They will play their games at Mount Maunganui, Hamilton, Auckland, and Christchurch.
The tournament is expected to be the swansong of two of India’s greatest legends, Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami.
