This is the 12th edition of the Women’s World Cup. The event will feature eight sides who will play each other in a round-robin format before the knock-out stage. Australia are the most successful side in the event with six World Cup wins to their name, whereas England are the second-most successful side with four wins to their name. The last World Cup was held in England.
England overcame a spirited effort from India to lift the trophy. Tammy Beaumont was the player of the tournament with 410 runs to her name.
England have announced a 15-member squad and two reserves for the 2022 Women’s World Cup. England off-spinner Charlie Dean who made her debut last year is a part of the squad. Also a part of the squad is all-rounder Emma Lamb, who was the leading run-getter for England A in their tour of Australia.
The squad has as many as eight players from the World Cup-winning campaign at home in 2017. England women began their campaign on March 5 against Australia women, and lost a close game by 12-runs.
