India defeated South Africa in the second match of the women's ODI tri-series in Colombo on Tuesday (April 29) - here is the updated points table for the tri-series involving India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
India opted to bat first after winning the toss. Their innings began with a historic moment as opener Pratika Rawal set a new world record, reaching 500 runs in just eight innings – breaking former England captain Charlotte Edwards' previous milestone (nine innings).
Rawal set the tone with a 91-ball 78 (7 fours, 1 six). Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues both scored 41, Kaur remaining not out, while Richa Ghosh’s 14-ball cameo of 24 took India to 276-6.
South Africa responded with a strong 140-run opening partnership between captain Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits. While Wolvaardt fell for 43, Brits scored a 107-ball 109, hitting 13 fours and three sixes. However, Sneh Rana revived India’s hopes with a sensational 5-43 – the best bowling figures by an Indian in women’s ODIs against South Africa.
A late cameo from Annerie Dercksen (30 off 20) wasn’t enough as South Africa were bowled out for 261 in 49.2 overs, falling 15 runs short.
