Broad dismissed Warner on seven occasions last summer
“Why is this suddenly getting retweeted more today?”
That was England fast bowler Stuart Broad’s reply to a tweet that showcased his control over Australia batsman David Warner during last summer’s Ashes, a compilation of his seven dismissals of the left-hander in the series.
The tweet came hours after it was announced in Melbourne that Warner had won the prestigious Allan Border Medal, which recognises the most outstanding male Australian cricketer over the past year as voted by fellow players, media and umpires.

While Warner was the second-highest run-scorer at the 2019 Cricket World Cup with 647 runs and notched a Test triple-hundred against Pakistan in Adelaide last November, he endured a dismal run of form in between at the Ashes.
Warner’s 10 innings in the series – marking his return to the format after a year-long ban due to ball-tampering – returned just 95 runs. Broad was his chief nemesis, coming around the wicket to remove the opener for each of those seven dismissals.

Nevertheless, Warner was the man celebrating on Monday after collecting the medal and the award for Men’s T20I Player of the Year at the Australian Cricket Awards.
Speaking after he was presented with the medal, Warner said: “I couldn’t be any prouder to stand here and receive the award.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have been accepted back by Cricket Australia and the peers, and also to be accepted by the fans.”
