With the T20 World Cup not far away, West Indies announced veterans Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Fidel Edwards and Andre Russell, among others, for the T20I series. The side, led by Kieron Pollard, will host South Africa for five T20Is, all of which will be played in Grenada.
South Africa, too, announced their squad for the white-ball leg led by Temba Bavuma. The biggest absence was AB de Villiers, whose exclusion confirmed that the legendary batsman’s international career had indeed come to a close.
Before the short-format games, the two teams will feature in a two-Test series, which begins with the first match on June 10 in St Lucia. South Africa announced a 19-member Test squad as part of the larger contingent, with off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen receiving his maiden South Africa call-up, while Lizaad Williams also earned his first Test call-up.
