Watch: Youngster Aimal Khan nailed an away-swinging yorker to perfection during the opener of the Pakistan Junior League, delivering an eye-catching start to the competition.
Playing for Mardan Warriors, Aimal was the star for his side, picking up 3-15 from his four overs against Gujranwala Giants on Thursday. Constantly bowling around 85mph, the quick was accurate with his lengths, also getting the ball to swing throughout the innings.
His dismissal of Gujranwala Giants skipper Uzair Mumtaz was his standout moment. Mumtaz, batting on 54 off 47, got his bat down in time to fend off the yorker that landed at the off-stump. However, the ball swung away past his defence, uprooting his off-stump, as the on-air commentators gushed about the skills of Aimal.
“Very much like a Waqar Younis-type delivery early on in his career to get the ball away.”
Gujranwala Giants finished at 131-7, which was chased down by Mardan Warriors in only 16.5 overs with eight wickets to spare.
