Jaiswal recorded his name in the history books by becoming the youngest Indian to slam a T20I century. Batting first, the southpaw teed off from the word go, hitting his fifty in just 22 balls. He stitched a 103-run partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad for the first wicket and scored the lion’s share of runs. Gaikwad fell for a timid 25 (23).

The pugnacious left-hander reached the magical mark in the 16th over with a boundary off the fourth ball. He unleashed an array of strokes, especially through the leg side, hitting eight fours and seven sixes. Rinku Singh finished the innings with a quickfire 37 not out off 15 deliveries, taking India’s score to 202-4.

Dipendra Singh Airee’s 32 (15) and Sundeep Jora’s 29 (12) went in vain as Nepal fell short of the run-chase by 23 runs. Both Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi picked three wickets each, catapulting India to the Asian Games 2023 semi-final.
