One of the most exciting aspects of modern cricket is the chance for on-air commentators to talk to mic’d up cricketers on the field, during the game. This not only helps the audience dive deeper into the fielding team’s psyche and strategy, but also creates some unforgettable moments on air.
MS Dhoni’s incredible reply to Pietersen from IPL 2017 was definitely one of them. The Englishman, being the banter-loving character he is, asked mic’d up Manoj Tiwary to tell Dhoni that KP was a better golfer than him. As Tiwary sheepishly passed on the message, it took just a couple of seconds for Dhoni to craft a response.
The response was so witty that the entire commentary box was filled with guffaws immediately after.
“He’s still my first Test wicket,” Dhoni said with a sly smile.
