Watch: Virat Kohli was once again dismissed playing a loose shot off a wide delivery as he ended a calendar without an international hundred for the second time in a row.

The India Test captain’s long wait for an international hundred continued after he was out for 18 in the second innings of the Centurion Test. Kohli, who has gone without a hundred since November 2019, was left disappointed as Marco Jensen got his wicket during the 33rd over of India’s second innings.

The skipper’s long-standing issue of driving away from his body came to haunt him yet again, as he could not resist going after a ball that was wide of off stump. Bowled from over the wicket, the wider delivery didn’t have much movement, but as Kohli had already reached out for the drive, he was left with no control over the shot, resulting in him nicking it to the wicketkeeper.

He ends the year with 536 Test runs, at an average of 28.21, his worst in a calendar year when he has played a minimum of four matches since his first year as a Test cricketer in 2011.
