Mir’s four wickets came in the space of seven deliveries from the leg-spinner, helping Worcestershire skittle their opponents for 112 in 18.2 overs.

First in his sights was Dutch international Colin Ackerman, who got an under-edge on a ball that kept low through to Ben Cox behind the stumps. Two balls later and off the final delivery of his second over, Mir made it two in three. This time he did for Rishi Patel who was also looking for a big shot. He missed trying to slog a straighter ball from Mir over the leg side and was hit plumb in front of off stump.

Mir picked up where he left off halfway through his next over. He bowled a flighted full delivery to Tom Scriven, who tried to play him into the onside and over the midwicket fielder, but didn’t get enough on it to beat Adam Hose to the catch.

The very next ball, Mir grabbed his fourth from Michael Finan, bowling the pick of the lot. The ball turned in from outside off stump and went in between Finan’s bat and pad to take out middle and off.

Although he wasn’t able to complete the hat-trick, the final eight balls of Mir’s spell went for just three runs, giving him final figures of 4-22 from his four.
