Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl in the semi-final of the 2023 Under-19 Asia Cup semi-final at the ICC Academy in Dubai. Amir Hassan and Ubaid Shah, the younger brother of Naseem Shah, shared the new ball against Aryansh Sharma and Akshat Rai.
The opening pair had added 10 when Ubaid, with his high action, bowled the perfect yorker from the over the wicket. Rai brought his bat down but not in time, and the ball knocked the off-stump out of the ground.
Ubaid finished with 4-44 as the UAE were bowled out for 193 despite reasonable efforts from Sharma (46), Ethan D’Souza (37), and captain Aayan Afzal Khan (55).
In response, Pakistan were cruising at 105-2 with Azan Awais (41) and captain Saad Baig (50) at the crease. From there, they collapsed to 121-7 and, despite a late attempt at recovery, were bowled out for 182.
In the final, to be played on December 17, UAE will face Bangladesh, who beat India by four wickets.
