Watch: Maheesh Theekshana delivered an exhibition of new-ball spin bowling in the SA20, taking out a clueless Adam Rossington’s off stump.
Taking the second over in Joburg Super Kings’ attempted defence of 161 to win against Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Theekshana was taken for four first ball by Temba Bavuma, who paddled the Sri Lankan to the fine-leg fence.
Bavuma gave up the strike next ball, and it took only one ball to break through, with Rossington playing back and down the wrong line, his off-stump knocked out of the ground. Theekshana pulled out his trademark bow-and-arrow celebration.
Theekshana closed out the over with three dot balls, almost removing Wanindu Hasaranga first ball, only for a review to show the delivery had pitched outside leg.
Theekshana has had a moderate campaign, taking four wickets with an economy of 7.29 runs per over. Joburg Super Kings are currently second favourites to win the competition in the SA20 betting.
