Royal Challengers Bangalore became the second team to win the Women’s Premier League after Mumbai Indians when they defeated DC in the final.
Having lost the toss, they were asked to field first. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma put on a show early on, threatening to take the game away from RCB before they had a chance to make a play.
However, Sophie Molineux’s triple-wicket over completely derailed the home side. They never recovered from the blow as Shreyanka Patil ran through the middle and lower order of DC to bowl them out for 113 after they were 64-0 from seven overs.
Smriti Mandhana began the run-chase cautiously as Sophie Devine took charge at the other end. Devine was dismissed for 32 off 27 in the ninth over when Mandhana was joined by Ellyse Perry.
Both the senior pros displayed immense maturity as they took the game deep on a slow, turning surface. Mandhana was dismissed for 31 off 39 in the 15th over, bringing Richa Ghosh to the crease.

With 28 needed off the last four overs, the pair of Ghosh and Perry had no trouble in steering RCB to victory, knocking off five off the last over with three balls remaining.
Ghosh hit the winning shot, a loft over mid-off to a length ball by Arundhati Reddy as she finished unbeaten on 17 off 14.
With this, RCB got their hands on their first-ever trophy, having been trying for it for 16 seasons in the men’s IPL and a few more times in the men’s Champions League.
