Long before Harleen Deol’s stunner on the boundary rope last week during the first T20I against England, Harmanpreet Kaur took a catch for the ages herself against West Indies in an ODI in 2019.
On the last ball of the West Indies innings at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Stafanie Taylor tried to smash Ekta Bisht for a six over long-on to get to her hundred. However, Harmanpreet grabbed a superb one-handed catch to send back the batter for 94. The ball looked like it could have gone for a second straight six, but Harmanpreet timed her jump to perfection and grabbed it with one hand. What made the catch even more special was that she caught the ball with her left arm, which is her non-throwing arm.
India Women were unable to get over the line in the game as they went down narrowly by one run. West Indies, who scored 225-7 in the first innings, were guided by Taylor’s 94 and Chedean Nation’s fine 43 off 55 lower down the order.
