Nottinghamshire today announced the marquee overseas signing of Shaheen Afridi for the duration of this summer’s T20 Blast campaign.
Shaheen has previous in the T20 Blast – the Pakistan speedster represented Hampshire in 2020 and away from white-ball cricket, represented Middlesex in the 2022 County Championship.
Shaheen, then 20, only took wickets in two of his seven Hampshire appearances but left a memorable mark on the competition in his final game for the club.
In low-scoring contest against Middlesex, Shaheen took 6-19 to help defend Hampshire’s total of 141 by 20 runs. All six of his wickets were bowled, and remarkably, the last four came off the final four balls of the game.
That’s right, Shaheen Afridi has taken wickets with the last four balls he’s bowled in the T20 Blast. County batters, beware.
