Stuart Broad gave another reminder of why he’s one of the most popular cricketers in the world by giving one of the West Indies youngsters an impromptu coaching session at Emirates Old Trafford.
Even with his team engaged in a fierce battle for the Wisden Trophy, and even though he was sitting nervously on 499 Test wickets, Broad still found time before the start of the final day’s play in the third England-West Indies Test to give 23-year-old Keon Harding some valuable fast-bowling advice.
A video posted by Sky Sports Cricket commentator Ian Bishop showed Broad in animated conversation with Harding. The Barbadian right-armer has taken 54 first-class wickets at 25.11, but is yet to make his West Indies debut. While it’s not possible to hear what Broad is saying, when footage of the workshop was shown from another angle on the Sky Sports Cricket broadcast, Bishop speculated it might have something to do with how to prevent yourself from falling away in your bowling action, something Broad used to struggle with.
Great to see Stuart Broad taking the time to have a long long long long long chat to 23yr old West Indian fast Keon Harding. And all this on the morning that Broad stood on 499 test wickets at the start of play👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 pic.twitter.com/VVwbXOj8S9

When play started, Broad focussed straightaway on the task at hand, pinning Kraigg Brathwaite lbw to join the exclusive ‘500 club’, but it’s good to know the illustrious company hasn’t gone to his head.
