With 13 runs required off the last over, UAE’s 19-year-old medium pacer Ali Naseer came into the attack against a freshly-arrived Scott Kuggeleijn and a well-set Raza, who was batting on 52 off 42 balls.
The first ball resulted in a streaky boundary off Kuggeleijn’s outside edge to the wide of the wicketkeeper. However, Naseer pulled things back brilliantly, conceding just three off the next four balls. The match went down to the wire as the Capitals required a six off the final ball to get over the line with Raza on strike.
Raza stood back and muscled a delivery bowled on the length and around off over mid-off. The ball sailed over the long off fielder into the stands.
The all-rounder finished unbeaten on 60 off 45 balls, including five fours and two maximums, besides his tidy bowling figures of 1-16 off four overs in the first innings.
