Enthralling fans with his six-hitting again, Pant, en route to a belligerent knock of 77 in 40 balls, slammed two ridiculous sixes in the death overs, both one-handed hits that landed outside the boundary ropes.
The first one came in the 46th over when a Sam Curran half volley was dispatched over long-on with a one-handed hoick that landed quite a bit past the sightscreen.
Next over, Tom Curran was at the receiving end of Pant’s power, as a wide yorker went wrong. Latching onto the full toss with just one hand, Pant sent it soaring over the deep point boundary to bring up his highest ODI score.
“That’s just sheer bat speed that’s taken that all the way,” said Graeme Swann on commentary. “Nowhere near the middle of the bat.”
