Shakib Al Hasan wins Parliamentary election
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan contested the 12th national election in Bangladesh from his constituency of Magura and won a landslide victory, beating his closest competitor by a margin of more than 150,000 votes.
Shakib, who led Bangladesh in the 2023 World Cup, took a break from cricket for the elections. He hasn’t, however, retired from the game.
Shakib slaps fan
Shakib has a history of being involved in controversies. The latest one of which he’s in the centre of is slapping a fan. According to reports, the incident took place while Shakib was on his way to a polling booth to observe proceedings.
Surrounded by a mob of people, Shakib slapped one of those surrounding him. While it is unclear what exactly led to his reaction, the fact that the man in question was trying to, almost forcefully, grab at Shakib, might have played a part.
A few days ago, another video of Shakib had gone viral where female fans were seen taking pictures with him sitting on a stage as he looked disinterested.
