Shakib, the former Bangladesh captain and current world No.1 T20I all-rounder, has been at the centre of several episodes of short temper. From slapping fans in public to uprooting stumps and abusing umpires in anger, controversies have always been closely linked to Shakib throughout his career.
Having been away from the limelight for a while now, he is back amongst controversy once again as he has been spotted grabbing a fan by the neck and threatening to snatch his phone and slap him as he tried to take a selfie with Shakib.

The incident occurred ahead of a Dhaka Premier League match between Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club (for whom Shakib is playing) and Prime Bank Cricket Club.
Once the video of Shakib’s antics started doing the rounds on social media, fans expressed their disappointment at his behaviour and suggested that it was not fitting for someone of his stature.
Shakib last played a T20I for Bangladesh in July 2023 against Afghanistan and is currently not a part of the squad taking on Zimbabwe.
