Watch: Shadab Khan played a match-winning innings of 59 off 30 balls in Sussex’s win over Middlesex at Lord’s in the T20 Blast yesterday (June 8) – here are the highlights from the entertaining knock.

Sussex chose to bat first in their seventh game of the season last night (June 8). They had managed just one victory in their first six matches and were in desperate need of their second.

They did not get off to a good start with their second wicket falling at 32 in the sixth over. Captain Ravi Bopara then came to the crease and steadied the ship with opener Tom Clark.

Clark was dismissed in the eighth over, bringing Shadab Khan into the middle at No.5. He didn’t take any time to get going as he smashed a boundary first ball.

Shadab’s innings included a total of four fours and five sixes and gave Sussex much-needed momentum after a slow start. He peppered the leg side fence with several kinds of sweep shots, both against seamers and spinners, at least five of which fetched him boundaries.

He was finally dismissed in the 16th over with the score reading 146-4. Thanks to the impetus provided by Shadab’s innings, Sussex were able to finish on 181-8 from their 20 overs.

They then managed to keep Middlesex to 177-5 in the second innings, winning the tight game by four runs in the end and registering their second victory of the season. Shadab was impressive with the ball as well, bowling his four overs for 0-30.
