Watch: Rocky Flintoff scored his maiden century for England U19s yesterday (June 24), in a match-winning innings against a Young Lions Invitational XI at Loughborough.
The 16-year-old Flintoff, son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, put on an 81-run stand with Charlie Allison for the fifth wicket after the U19s lost both openers in the first five overs of the chase. Needing 288 to win, Flintoff hit eight fours and three sixes in his 111-ball 106, with the side eventually winning the game by two wickets.
Having come together at 52-4, Flintoff and Allison put on valuable runs before the latter was caught by Travis Holland off the bowling of Archie Vaughan, son of former England captain Michael Vaughan. Flintoff's innings came to an end when he was caught by James Dunn with 14 more runs needed to win.
The teenage Flintoff was given his maiden call-up to the U19s earlier this month, after footage of him batting for Lancashire second XI went viral for his eery resemblence to Flintoff Sr when batting. He signed his first professional contract for Lancashire following his call-up to England U19s. The squad includes several members with family ties to the game, also including Farhan Ahmed (brother of Rehan Ahmed), Thomas Rew (brother of James Rew), Luc Benkenstein (son of Dale Benkenstein) and Haydon Mustard (son of Phil Mustard).
England U19s are set to face Sri Lanka in a three-match one-day series later this week.
