Robin Uthappa and Misbah-ul-Haq during the World Championship of Legends final at Edgbaston on Saturday

During the final of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) on Saturday, India Champions' Robin Uthappa won the hearts of cricket fans around the world as he helped Misbah-ul-Haq off the field, following an injury to the latter.

In the T20 tournament organised for retired players, India Champions and Pakistan Champions met in the summit clash at Edgbaston on Saturday. India were out for revenge, having been beaten by 68 runs in the group stage meeting between the sides eight days ago.

Pakistan Champions won the toss, chose to bat, and reached 55-2 by the end of the sixth over, with opener Kamran Akmal going strong, having just taken 12 runs off Pawan Negi's first over. The run rate slowed down considerably in the middle overs, though.

They lost their fourth wicket in the 12th over, bringing Misbah-ul-Haq to the crease. The former captain of the Pakistan national team made his way to 18 runs off 15 deliveries before pulling up with an injury. What initially appeared to be a cramp soon seemed more serious as Misbah's movements were not promising. He opted not to continue his innings, retiring hurt.

As he attempted to hobble off the field of play, India Champions' wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa walked up to him and offered himself as support to Misbah until he could receive the required medical attention. The gesture drew appreciation from those at the ground, as well as fans online as a video of act went viral.

Pakistan Champions finally scored 156-6 in their 20 overs but India Champions chased the target down with five balls to spare thanks in large part to Ambati Rayudu (50), Gurkeerat Singh Mann (34) and Yusuf Pathan (30). Pathan was also named Player of the Tournament.
