Watch: Rahul Chahar was seen throwing his sunglasses angrily after being denied an lbw appeal by the on-field umpire during a clash between India A and South Africa A.
Spinner Rahul Chahar had words with the on-field umpire after his lbw appeal was rejected during Day 2 of the unofficial Test match between South Africa A and India A in Bloemfontein. The incident occurred during the fifth ball of the 128th over of the South Africa A innings when Chahar foxed Sinethemba Qeshile with a flatter delivery. The ball rapped onto the batter’s pads as Chahar went up in appeal. However, the umpire was not convinced but Chahar did not relent and continued appealing before walking away and throwing his sunglasses in anger.
While Qeshile was taking a single, Chahar went up to the umpire to have an animated discussion. The on-air commentators were unimpressed and stated, “In my view, it was too high.”
Overall, Chahar had a game to forget with the ball, as he ended up conceding 125 runs off 28.3 overs for just one wicket. No other India bowler gave away more than 100 runs in the innings. South Africa A went on to score 509-7 before declaring, with Qeshile remaining unbeaten on 72.
