The 23-year-old spinner from Afghanistan has played only four international games but has already left his mark in various T20 leagues, picking up 156 wickets in 133 games at an average of 22.08. He showed why he is much sought-after in the CPL on Thursday (August 31), with a brilliant delivery that dismissed Jamaica’s Reifer during the 13th over of the first innings.

Qais sent down the leg-break on the off-stump and the batter looked to play a drive. However, Reifer did not account for the huge turn that the ball would generate past his bat. Just as he looked to play the shot, the ball turned in massively and snuck through the bat-pad gap to dismantle the stumps. Reifer, who has played three T20Is for West Indies, was dismissed for 16, scoring his runs at a strike rate of 80.

The bowler also went on to dismiss Shamarh Brooks in the innings, sending him back for a 41-ball 78.

Barbados restricted Jamaica to 160-7 and chased down the target in 19 overs. Alick Athanaze was the top-scorer, making 76 in 48.
