Watch: Paul Coughlin pulled off a magnificent reflect catch in Durham’s T20 Blast game against Lancashire today (June 16), falling over and taking the grab one-handed off his own bowling.

The catch came at a crucial moment in the game with Lancashire, having been set 219 to win after David Beddingham and Graham Clark both made rapid half-centuries, going at over tens in the powerplay.

Matthew Hurst was on 32 off 17 balls when he hit a full blooded drive straight back at Coughlin, who was off balance in his follow through. The ball flew straight at Coughlin’s head, and as he fell he put his hands up, seemingly to protect himself from the impact of the ball. However, the ball stuck in his right hand and he managed to cling on as he fell to the ground. Hurst stood at the crease in disbelief that Coughlin had taken the catch before walking off.

Despite that wicket, Lancashire still managed to keep in touch with the rate they needed to stay in with a chance of reaching their target. However, they lost wickets at regular intervals and needed 21 runs off the final over. Coughlin bowled it, with No.8 George Balderson and No.9 Jack Blatherwick at the crease.

Blatherwick smashed two sixes before he was bowled by Coughlin off the third ball of the over, with Balderson unable to find three off the last ball. Lancashire ended up the losing side by two runs.
