Watch: Australia Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins jokingly ran out the non-striker during a promotional event for children in Sydney on Sunday.
Pat Cummins and Alyssa Healy were at the Woolworth’s Cricket Blast event, aimed to promote cricket among children. He was seen rolling his arms over, sending down gentle off-spin with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in sight. The ball spun a mile and ended up in the adjacent water body. Curious, the enthusiastic non-striker left his crease, and Cummins playfully signalled a wide while running him out at the same time.
In another hilarious subplot, social media users commented on the viral video, recalling the controversial Jonny Bairstow dismissal during last year’s Ashes. Bairstow left the crease under the assumption the ball was dead and was run-out by Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey. The incident divided opinions as many were for it, while some lambasted Carey by accusing him of not following the "Spirit of Cricket".
