Watch: Playing for HB Lal, Pakistan all-rounder Aamer Jamal claimed 6-15 against the Ghani Institute of Cricket in the final of the 2023 Ghani Ramzan Tourney.
Jamal played two T20Is for Pakistan in September 2022, both in Lahore, when England in the seven match series against England. His only wicket was Sam Curran, caught at cover, on debut to finish with 2-0-13-1. But, he was hammered (2-0-30-0) in his second match.
In all Twenty20 cricket, he has 24 wickets in 20 matches while going at 9.77 an over. In the recent PSL, he picked up nine wickets in six matches while going at 10.75 for the Peshawar Zalmi.
Here, he came on second change after the GIC opted to bat. He bowled Moeez Ghani (24 in 21 balls) with a lethal yorker in the ninth over, but at 114-2 in the 13th over, the GIC seemed to have recovered.
Then Usama Mir flicked a ball in the air, and substitute fielder Mirwaiz sprinted towards his left to take a low, tumbling catch at cow corner.
In the 17th over, Abrar Butt tried to slog Jamal towards the leg-side, missed the line, and was trapped leg-before. And in the final over of the innings, Jamal trapped Asad Ali leg-before with a yorker.
Two balls later, he had Hussain Talat (39 in 25 balls) playing one on to the stumps to secure a five-wicket haul. With the next ball, the last of the innings, he bowled No.11 Ali Shabir. From 139-3 in 15.3 overs, the GIC were bowled out for 176.
Thanks to Mohammad Ikhlaq’s 63-ball 111 not out (10 fours, seven sixes) at the top, HB Lal won with five wickets and four balls in hand.
