With India beginning the final day of the match six wickets down and with a lead of 154, Pant – India’s last recognised batsman – added eight runs to his overnight score of 14 before Robinson intervened.

Pant prodded at a ball angling away from him, resulting in an outside edge, with Jos Buttler holding on behind the stumps to cue celebrations from England.

Robinson’s second wicket of the morning followed not long after, with Ishant Sharma trapped LBW to a 64mph slower ball.
