Watch: Nineteen-year-old Nepal batsman Rohit Paudel pulled off a remarkable catch in his side’s Cricket World Cup League Two match against Oman on Tuesday to end Jatinder Singh’s record-breaking innings.
Chasing 200 in 50 overs at the Al Amerat cricket ground in Oman, the hosts were cruising to victory after opening batsman Singh reached a century off just 60 balls, the second-quickest ODI ton by an Associate batsman.
On 107, however, Jatinder’s knock was brought to an end as Paudel – who made headlines in January 2019 when he became the youngest man to hit an ODI half-century – held on (twice) in spectacular fashion.
Running around at long-on to catch a lofted straight drive, Paudel grabbed the ball with his right hand mid-air, tossed the ball up as his momentum took him over the boundary, before returning over the rope to complete the catch.
Nonetheless, Oman’s victory march wasn’t put to a halt as they reached their target in the 32nd over with five wickets in hand.
