Watch: In the ongoing National T20 Cup, Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan claimed a stunner instantly dubbed “the catch of the tournament” by the on-air commentators.
With Mohammad Haris taking the gloves for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rizwan was relegated to the role of out-fielder for his side’s clash against Sindh. He showed he was more than capable of catching balls without gauntlets on, taking an incredible catch to dismiss Anwar Ali.
With Sindh 111-7, needing 28 runs for victory, Anwar attempted to go the aerial route off Musadiq Ahmed, but only succeeded in launching a skyer. Rizwan, at extra cover, set off sprinting immediately as the ball swirled for an age. It eventually came down just to the leg-side of the non-striker’s stumps, inside the ring, about where mid-on would have been positioned, with Rizwan diving full length having run all of 40 yards to get in place.

The finish to the game was almost as extraordinary as the catch itself. Danish Aziz smashed 28 off his next 10 balls, including six, four, and six off the last three balls of the game, to seal a two-wicket win with no balls remaining.
