Khan was playing for the Mississauga Panthers who were bowled out for 56 by the Surrey Jaguars. Haris and Iftikhar Ahmed put on an unbroken stand to chase the runs down inside ten overs. In an attempt to break the partnership in such a small chase, Khan tried everything to distract Haris from concentrating.
He first tried singing, adding a warble onto the end of an appeal after Haris played and missed. He was also constantly chatting to Haris in between deliveries, enticing him into playing big shots. When Haris did go for a huge heave into the leg side, he managed to get an under-edge on it and the ball ricocheted off his pad in front of the stumps.
Khan clearly had not seen where the ball had gone, expecting a top odge rather than an underedge. He looked up to the sky, and then commicaly rotated in circles trying to locate it. Haris could not suppress his laughter as Khan continued to spin behind him long after the ball had been given back to the bowler.
Backing away from his stumps and going for another huge swipe, this time Khan was convinced he had his man. There was a noise as the ball passed the bat, but the umpire was unconvinced. Haris looked similarly bemused as Khan pretended to throw the ball at him in anger. He retaliated by playfully bopping Khan’s helmet with his glove.
Haris finished on 37 not out off 23 balls.
