Watch: An astonishing spell of bowling from Mohammad Hafeez saw him claim a six-wicket haul, the best figures in the T10 format, during the ongoing Zim Afro T10 League 2023.
Hafeez finished with 2-1-4-6, securing a 10-run win for Bulawayo Braves against Johannesburg Buffaloes in the third match of the T10 competition in Harare. He accounted for skipper Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl, Thisara Perera, Timycen Maruma, Tymal Mills and Tanunurwa Makoni as the Buffaloes finished on 95-9 in 10 overs, falling short of their target 106. Wellington Masakadza took the other three wickets.
Coming in as third change, Hafeez struck from the first ball itself, dismissing Raza and Perera off successive deliveries. Two dots later, he had Maruma caught and bowled, finishing with a triple-wicket maiden. He was called back on in the 8th over, and proceeded to dismiss Burl and Mills, as well as Makoni two balls later.
Hafeez’s spell capped a momentous occasion at the Harare Sports Club, the first time floodlights were being used at a game at the venue.
Earlier, Mushfiqur Rahim’s crucial 46 off 23 from No.6 carried the Buffaloes to 105, with only Tom Banton managing double digits (34) among his teammates.
