Watch: Mitchell Johnson and Yusuf Pathan were involved in an ugly spat that ended in the former Australia quick pushing the batter during a 2022 Legends League Cricket clash.
Exactly what miffed the two players remains unclear. Playing for Bhilwara Kings, Yusuf was seemingly riled up after a wide was not called by the on-field umpires in the 17th over of the first innings of the Qualifier against India Capitals. Johnson sent down a bouncer above the leg stump, which was not declared a wide, much to Yusuf’s dismay.
Yusuf on to have an extended argument with the on-field umpires before a discussion with the bowler ensued. The two were involved in a heated exchange before Johnson pushed Yusuf, requiring the on-field umpires to intervene and separate the two.
In Johnson’s next over – the 19th of the innings – Yusuf hit a six, a four, and then another six. But Johnson had the last laugh, dismissing Yusuf with the fourth ball for a 24-ball 48.
Batting first, Bhilwara made 226-5, which was chased down in the last over by the Capitals, with Ross Taylor scoring 84 in 39 deliveries.
