It’s been over a decade since Michael Bevan last played international cricket, but the Australian legend doesn’t seem to be done enthralling audiences yet, turning up as a costumed surprise in The Masked Singer, the Australian reality TV show.
The 50-year-old Bevan, who was widely considered one of ODI cricket’s greatest finishers, set the stage alight in his Hammerhead costume on Monday, featuring as one of the 12 mystery contestants on the second season of the popular Australian show.
Crooning to the tunes of Jimmy Barnes’ Working Class Man, Bevan captivated the audience as well as the panel of judges, which included singer Danni Minogue, comedian Dave Hughes, radio host Jackie O and comedian Urzila Carlson.
For the uninitiated, the show features two masked contestants singing the same song in the first round of the contest, while the next rounds feature a solo performance by the contestants. Upon their elimination, the contestants reveal their identity.
Despite his dazzling performance, Bevan couldn’t make it to subsequent rounds, losing to the Kitten’s rendition of Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now.

Bevan, who averaged 53.58 in ODI cricket, gave fans a teaser of his masked identity last month, kickstarting a guessing game with the clue: “I’ve never started a fight … but I always nail them in the end!” – a play on his tremendous credentials as an ODI finisher.
After the reveal, Bevan admitted that the pressure of performing on the stage was comparable to that on a cricket field, but admitted that he was “good at one thing, not good at another.”
