Australian international Marnus Labuschagne copped an agonising blow on his groin while batting for Glamorgan in the T20 Blast at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Batting at four against Essex in Glamorgan's tenth game of the Blast season, Marnus Labuschagne missed a pull against left-arm pacer Paul Walter from round the wicket and was punished for it in the most tormenting way possible.

Tormenting may even be an understatement, as it took Labuschagne five minutes to get up after falling to the ground immediately after the ball struck him. He eventually had to replace the box.

After he got back on his feet, though, Labuschagne stuck around for a while, scoring 30 in an innings that included a four and a six, before being bowled by Matt Critchley.

Labuschagne performed not just with the bat but with the ball, too. He dismissed three Essex batters, one of them being the crucial top-order wicket of Adam Rossington, to deliver an all-round performance that was crucial in getting Glamorgan a 26-run win – their fourth of the season.

The all-round performance will have definitely softened the blow.
