Watch: Stranded alone at the opposite end of the ground while his England teammates got into a huddle, a typically entertaining Mark Wood hilariously came up with a solo huddle, inviting laughter from commentators during the Antigua Test.
Part of England’s XI for the first Test, Wood walked out to the field on day two, but realised he was on the opposite end of the ground to where his England teammates were. Skipper Joe Root, meanwhile, summoned his players and began addressing the team, even with his strike bowler missing.
The cameras panned on Wood, stranded at the opposite end, staring at his teammates in disbelief as his teammates engaged in discussions without him. With no one for company, Wood hilariously broke into an air hug, leaving the commentary box in splits. Forever the entertainer, he even gave his imaginary teammates a thumbs up, all with a straight face.
West Indies ended day two 109 runs in the deficit, with Wood taking one of the four wickets to fall.
