Priyansh Arya smashed six sixes in an over en route to a blistering century during his team South Delhi Superstarz’s game with North Delhi Strikers in the 2024 Delhi Premier League today (August 31).
The 23-year-old left-hander opened the innings on Saturday and was in full flow against a hapless North Delhi side, reaching his hundred in just 40 balls. He got to the milestone with a four towards mid-wicket, which was also his second hundred of the tournament.
Arya was batting on 28 off 15 at one point and needed only eight more deliveries to reach his half-century. It was in the 12th over that he decided to go berserk, hitting Manan Bhardwaj for six sixes, jumping from 58 to 94 in the space of an over.
He needed three more overs to bring up his hundred, his second of the ongoing DPL. Arya had earlier made an unbeaten 107* in 55 balls against Purani Dilli. He was eventually dismissed for 120 in 50 deliveries, with his innings containing ten fours and as many sixes.
Samit Dravid is part of both the one-day and four-day squads, which will be held in September.

Arya-Badoni wreak havoc
South Delhi lost their first wicket for 13 when Sarthak Ray was dismissed for 11. It brought Ayush Badoni, who represents Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League, out to the crease. Together the duo were unstoppable, stitching 286 runs for the second wicket in only 99 balls. While Arya stole the limelight for hitting six sixes, Badoni, also the skipper of the side, was the more aggressive batter of the two.
He scored 165 runs in 55 balls at a strike rate of 300, with his innings containing as many as 19 sixes. Badoni departed in the 19th over of the innings, with his dismissal leading to a mini-collapse. South Delhi lost four wickets in the space of just three runs, but they were still able to post a mammoth 308-5 on the board.
