Watch: Kyle Mayers bowled a sensational new-ball delivery in the SA20, uprooting the off and middle stumps of the highly rated Dewald Brevis with a hooping yorker.
The delivery swung in from way outside off stump – had it not moved in the air, it might well have been called wide.
Opening the bowling for Durban’s Super Giants against MI Cape Town, the West Indies all-rounder had Brevis, nicknamed ‘Baby AB’ for his supposed similarities to South Africa legend de Villiers, on toast. His first ball was full, Brevis playing all around it as it struck him on the pad, but surviving.
The second, simply, was unplayable. The length was perfect, and the movement was scarcely believable. The wicket was a key one too, with Brevis having hit an unbeaten 41-ball 70 in MI Cape Town’s opening win over Paarl Royals. a win for Durban’s Super Giants would be a shock, going by the SA20 odds.
