Watch: Kieron Pollard, who usually bowls medium-pace, sent down off-spin deliveries in a recent Trinidad T10 clash, taking on rival batter Nicholas Pooran, who switched to a right-hander’s stance.
In a clash against Leatherback Giants, Scarlet Ibis Scorchers’ captain Pollard was seen bowling off-spin when his West Indies teammate Pooran was at the opposite end of the pitch. The left-handed Pooran cheekily switched his stance to right-handed when Pollard was in his bowling run-up, but upon spotting Pooran make the switch, he stopped mid-way and pretended to throw the ball at the batter in a bid to intimidate him. The bizarre series of incidents continued, with the two involved in a stare-off thereafter, before Pollard threw the ball to the wicketkeeper and geared up to bowl the delivery again.
However, that was not the end of the drama between the two. A few balls later, when Pooran was at the non-striker’s end, Pollard the bowler, stopped midway through his run-up again, this time in an attempt to Mankad Pooran. What made things even more bizarre was when Pollard looked earnestly at the on-field umpire, hoping it would be a dismissal!
